Information Before Applying for a Business and Operation License
Citizens who have hesitations about the business or the subject of their activity before applying for a license can apply to our Directorate and request a preliminary examination.
Approval of Flat Owners
If it is desired to open a public recreation and entertainment area in areas registered as "business" in the land registry; a decision taken by the majority vote of the flat owners is required, provided that there is no provision to the contrary in the management plan.
If it is desired to apply to open a business in areas that appear as "residence" in the occupancy report, the unanimous approval of all flat owners named in the land registry on the parcel is sought.
Chimney Requirement
In workplaces where heating or cooking will be carried out during their activity; a chimney in accordance with the architectural project is required to evacuate steam and odor.
Fire Department Report
For fire department reports requested in business license and work permit files, electronic application, reporting and sharing are provided through the automation system established between Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department and Bornova Municipality. Therefore, applications must be made directly to our Directorate.
Hygiene Training Certificate Obligation
In the workplaces specified below, all business owners, operators and employees are obliged to obtain a Hygiene Training Certificate:
Businesses engaged in food production and retail sales
Turkish baths, hairdressers, barbers, massage and beauty salons
Businesses such as hotels etc.
Hygiene Training Certificate is issued as a result of training received from public education centers, vocational training centers, tourism training centers and maturation institutes affiliated with the General Directorate of Lifelong Learning.
Workplaces That Do Not Issue Licenses
A Business Opening and Operation License is not issued for workplaces belonging to the following professional groups:
Physical Practices
Engineering, architecture and other professional offices
Law offices, notary offices
Freelance accountant, financial advisor and certified public accountant offices
All kinds of educational and training institutions
Live Music Permit Certificate
According to Article 38 of Regulation No. 9207, a live music permit may be issued in line with the Environmental Noise Level Assessment Report to be obtained from institutions authorized by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, as well as the report prepared by the Environmental Protection and Control Directorate. This permit is evaluated in a way that does not harm the peace and tranquility of the public.
Distance Criteria for the Sale of Alcoholic Beverages
Workplaces that want to obtain a TAPDK Certificate; formal education institutions, prep schools, dormitories and places of worship must be at least 100 meters from door to door. In order to determine this distance, an application is made with a distance sketch to be obtained from the Zoning and Urbanization Directorate. A letter of conformity is issued as a result of the on-site inspection.
In addition; the same 100-meter distance rule applies to public workplaces such as taverns, coffeehouses, coffee houses, bars, electronic game centers, internet lounges and workplaces where open alcoholic beverages are sold within the borders of our district.
Important Note:
With the decision numbered 2048 published in the Official Gazette dated 25.01.2020 and numbered 31019, private education courses are also considered formal education institutions in this distance calculation.
