Little Hands Touch the Soil in Bornova

Children from Bornova discovered the importance of local seeds and healthy food by learning how to make seed balls during an event held at the Local Seed Center. In another activity organized within the scope of the Parent Workshops, titled Stuffed Toy Making, children created their own toys together with their mothers. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that such activities, which instill awareness of nature and production at an early age, will continue to expand.

Children aged 3–6 who benefit from Bornova Municipality’s Children’s Play and Activity Centers learned how to make seed balls at the Local Seed Center through a special organization by the Directorate of Women and Family Services and the Directorate of Agricultural Services. Transported from their neighborhoods to the center by shuttle buses and accompanied by their teachers, the children received information from agricultural engineers about the importance of local seeds and how access to healthy food can be achieved. While taking the seed balls they made home to grow themselves, the children spent enjoyable and educational hours at the center.

They Made Their Own Toys with Their Mothers

Another activity organized for children was the Stuffed Toy Making workshop held at the Children’s Play and Activity Centers as part of the Parent Workshops. Together with their mothers, children designed and produced their own toys, improving their manual skills while also spending quality time with their families.

Stating that they attach great importance to instilling awareness of nature, production, and sharing in children at an early age, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki said:
