Confidence renewed in cooperative elections

The Bornova Women’s Enterprise and Business Cooperative, one of the key structures supporting women’s entrepreneurship in Bornova, held its ordinary general assembly at the Uğur Mumcu Cultural and Art Center Multi-Purpose Hall, hosted by Bornova Municipality. With strong participation, the meeting reviewed past activities and determined the new administration for the upcoming term.

As a result of the elections, current president Hürriyet Yıldız was re-elected, renewing confidence in her leadership. The assembly was also attended by Sibel Uyar, President of the Simurg Women’s Cooperatives Union and former Mayor of Urla. Necla Çoral and Ayşe Kayalı were elected as full members of the board, while Serpil Akbaba, Zerrin Aybertürk, and Türkan Binici were selected as substitute members.

Supervisory and union representatives determined

For the supervisory board, Emine Özcan Ova and Esra Kavuşan were elected as full members, with Feryat Dinler and Maviş Akgün serving as substitutes.

In addition, representatives for the Simurg Women’s Cooperatives Union—an umbrella organization for women’s cooperatives—were also determined. Duygu Kayalı and Serpil Akbaba were elected as full representatives, while Hürriyet Yıldız and Necla Çoral will serve as substitute members.

Goal: Reaching more women

Speakers at the general assembly emphasized the importance of increasing the visibility of women’s labor, strengthening solidarity, and contributing to local development. In the new term, the cooperative aims to expand its production capacity, reach more women, and implement projects that further strengthen women’s role in the economy.

The newly elected administration of the Bornova Women’s Enterprise and Business Cooperative is expected to take its efforts in supporting women entrepreneurs even further.
