An emotional night at the “Exchange Folk Songs” concert

At the “Exchange Folk Songs” concert organized by Bornova Belediyesi, Grup Avaz performed melodies reflecting the shared culture of the two shores of the Aegean. Folk songs telling stories of migration and population exchange, along with folk dance performances, created both emotional and enthusiastic moments for the audience. At the end of the night, the artists received prolonged applause.

The event took place at the Çamdibi Şehit Er Adem Bilaloğlu Sosyal Tesisleri Nedret Güvenç Sahnesi, where melodies representing the common heritage of the Aegean echoed throughout the hall. Songs narrating migration stories from the Balkans to Anatolia evoked both sorrow and pride among the audience.

Melodies of migration, memory, and brotherhood

The concert began with “Atımı Baylerim Delikli Taşa” and “Çalın Davulları.” It continued with significant pieces in the memory of the population exchange, such as “Drama Köprüsü” and “Göçmen Kızı.” The program extended to the lively spirit of the Black Sea with “Furtuna,” and built a cultural bridge between the two shores of the Aegean with “To Zeibeliko tis avdokias” and Torbalıkı Parmak Zeybeği.

The performance of “Aman Katerina - Aman Cevriye Hanım” created deeply emotional moments in the hall, while the dance group added color to the night with a Barbayanis performance. Later in the program, pieces such as “Ahcik,” “Ada Dansı,” and the finale “Telli Telli,” sung in unison, received great applause.

Audience joined in

Folk dance performances accompanying the songs added dynamism to the evening. The audience occasionally joined in singing, and the performances on stage were met with standing ovations. At the end of the concert, the artists were warmly received by the audience.
