A Surprise Visit from Mayor Eşki to the Little Ones

With the start of the new school year, Bornova Municipality has launched a nutrition support program for students in schools located in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Mayor Ömer Eşki visited Fırat Yılmaz Çakıroğlu Primary School, where he met the children and personally distributed the menu, which included simit, ayran, cake, fruit juice, halva, and milk dessert. The support program will be expanded in the coming weeks to reach all schools in the district, from kindergarten to high school.

Bornova Municipality continues the nutrition support initiative it started on the first day of the new academic year in schools in disadvantaged areas. Mayor Ömer Eşki visited Fırat Yılmaz Çakıroğlu Primary School in Gürpınar Neighborhood, met with the students during the food distribution, and chatted with them.

The prepared menu includes items children love, such as simit, ayran, cake, fruit juice, halva, and milk dessert. All products are supplied through Kent Markets and Kent Canteens, which are part of Bornova Municipality’s social projects. This way, local producers are supported while students are provided with safe, healthy, and affordable food.

“Being by our children’s side is our greatest responsibility”
Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that the nutrition support will gradually reach all students across the district in the coming weeks, from preschool to high school:

“Education is one of the core pillars of social municipal work. We are by our children’s side to ensure they are well-nourished and feel stronger in school. Starting with disadvantaged areas, our goal is to reach all students. With products supplied through our Kent Markets and Kent Canteens, we not only provide healthy nutrition for our children but also strengthen the culture of solidarity in our city. This support will continue and expand for the future of our children.”
