3rd Ordinary General Assembly Held with Strong Participation

The 3rd Ordinary General Assembly of the Bornova City Council was held with broad participation. Proposals from the Animal Rights, Women, Youth, and Disability Rights councils and working groups were unanimously approved and submitted to the Bornova Municipal Council. The activity report presented by Council President Av. Dr. Doğan Baran Mengüş also received full support from the participants.

Bornova, September 28, 2025 — The Bornova City Council held its 3rd Ordinary General Assembly with wide participation. At the meeting, which addressed the city’s common issues, the activities of the previous term were reviewed and projects and priorities for the new term were determined.

Striking proposals from the councils

• Animal Rights Working Group: Improving the protection, shelter, and feeding conditions of stray animals.

• Women’s Council: Increasing women’s role in local governments, expanding employment opportunities, and strengthening equality-based policies.

• Youth Council: Organizing a Youth Festival in Bornova and establishing a Digital Youth Center.

• Disability Rights Working Group: Ensuring that the opinions of the Disability Affairs Unit are considered at every stage of the municipality’s disability-friendly projects.

These proposals were unanimously approved to be submitted to the Bornova Municipal Council.

Activity report received full marks from participants

Bornova City Council President Av. Dr. Doğan Baran Mengüş presented the one-year activity report since the establishment of the council. The report, which included panels, events, actions, meetings, and projects, was unanimously approved by the participants.

“Collective wisdom for participatory democracy”

The City Council emphasized that it will continue to play an active role in decision-making for Bornova’s future based on democratic participation and collective wisdom. All proposals put forward at the General Assembly will be conveyed to the Bornova Municipal Council to be transformed into concrete steps.
