Dazzling Two-Act Year-End Dance Performance

The magic of dance and culture filled the Ayfer Feray Open-Air Theater during the year-end event of Bornova Municipality’s Hobby and Skills Training Courses. Participants from different age groups took the stage with performances ranging from modern dance to traditional folk dances. Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized the unifying power of art and affirmed continued support for culture and the arts in the district.

The year-end celebration of Bornova Municipality’s Hobby and Skills Training Courses—which cater to all age groups and offer dozens of programs throughout the year—was marked by an unforgettable two-act dance show. Held at the Ayfer Feray Open-Air Theater in Büyükpark, the event offered a visual feast to the audience thanks to the talented Bornovalı participants.

An Evening That Began with the Dance of the Brush

The first act, themed “FRIDA / The Dance of the Brush,” featured performances by the students of Ece İstek and Şenol Ağırdağ. They mesmerized the audience with ballet, modern dance, bachata, Argentine tango, waltz, flamenco, and contact dance. Many of the participants were performing on stage for the first time and received standing ovations.

A Cultural Bridge: “From the Land to the Heart”

In the second act, titled “BRIDGE / From the Land to the Heart,” students of Metehan Turan and Osman Yardım showcased the rich dance heritage of Anatolia and neighboring cultures. The audience enjoyed a wide range of performances, including dances from the Aegean region, children’s and adults’ zeybek, Azerbaijani women’s dances, and folk dances from Thrace, Trabzon, and the Teke region.

Joining in the excitement of the participants, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki highlighted the unifying power of art and cultural expression.
“We bring together Bornovalıs of all ages in our course centers, helping them gain new skills and opening space for art. What took place on this stage was not just dance—it was the embodiment of solidarity, effort, and culture. We will continue to grow Bornova through art,” he said.
