A Tour of Investment, Solidarity, and Public Engagement in Bornova

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki and CHP İzmir MP Ednan Arslan carried out a comprehensive field tour, covering everything from infrastructure to social projects, marketplaces to civil society organizations. During the full-day program, the duo toured Bornova step by step, examined ongoing investments on-site, met with citizens, listened to their concerns, and shared proposed solutions.

Foundation Laid for Işıkkent Condolence House

With the participation of Işıklar Neighborhood Headman Necati Karabulut and Egemenlik Neighborhood Headman Şerif Ali Altıparmak, the foundation was laid for a condolence house in Işıkkent. They also inspected road construction work in Altındağ Merkez Neighborhood, where Eşki and Arslan took a hands-on role, stepping up to the concrete mixer and wishing the teams success.

Hand in Hand with Citizens and Civil Society

Touring the marketplaces in Işıkkent and Merkez Neighborhoods, Eşki and Arslan spoke with vendors and shoppers alike, listening closely and taking notes of their requests. At the end of the day, they made a brief stop at Abide-i Hürriyet Square in Kazım Dirik Neighborhood, then visited several local organizations including the Macedonia Debre Culture and Solidarity Association, the Tahtacı Association, and the Afyonkarahisar Akçaşar Village Culture and Solidarity Association.

Eşki: We’re Delivering on Our Promises

Mayor Eşki emphasized that they are fulfilling the commitments they made:

“The condolence house, which will strengthen neighborhood culture and social solidarity, will significantly contribute to Işıkkent’s social infrastructure. Our road works will also continue at full speed,” he said.

Stating that being present in areas that directly affect the lives of Bornova residents is a responsibility, Eşki added:

“We stand with both our tradespeople and our citizens. Cooperation with civil society organizations is a cornerstone of our governance approach. We will continue to act together in all areas—from culture to solidarity.”

Arslan: Bornova’s Landscape Is Transforming

CHP MP Ednan Arslan stated that they work closely with local administrations:

“It was a great pleasure to see the projects that are transforming Bornova and improving the quality of life for its citizens. Being in close contact with the people of Bornova is incredibly valuable. We’re always on the ground and ready to support these kinds of efforts. I thank Bornova Municipality and Mayor Eşki for their commitment and hard work.”
